Big Boy Bath

So we decided to give Jacob a "big boy" bath, since, you know....he is 6 months old now, so that qualifies him as a "big boy". hahaha But in all seriousness, he is sitting up on his own pretty well these days and loves being on his belly, kicking his legs, so I thought he might enjoy splashing around in the tub and............ He LOVED it!
I know, I know.....based on this picture, you're probably thinking, yeah right, doesn't look like he loved it.

Here's the thing, he loved it SO much that he was splashing around and ended up doing a face plant into the water, hence this lovely picture! Anyway, as you'll see in the following pictures, he had a blast and now I think the baby spa tube has just become yet another thing for us to put into storage.
And so, to catch everyone up and what's new with Jacob & mommy...

Jacob is now eating baby food 3 times a day! He is not a picky eater, thank goodness and has tried carrots, pears, peaches, apples, butternut squash, winter squash, prunes, peas, spinach, sweet potatoes and pumpkin. So far the only one he doesn't really care for is peas, so I think we're doing pretty well!

Mommy has been officially weaned from the pump and Jacob from nursing. It is bitter sweet. Although I am not sad to see the pump go into storage, I have to admit that I do miss nursing. I am a bit surprised by this emotion b/c it was a rather stressful thing for me in the beginning. But by the end, Jacob and I were pro's and I am going to miss the snuggly, quite time, that breastfeeding had become for me and my son.

Last of all, this little man of ours loves to be on his belly and is constantly rolling over and pushing himself up onto his hands and knees! This habit of his, has made diaper changes oh so much fun for mommy and daddy!

Happy 6 months!

Jacob turned 6 months old yesterday! He weighs 17 lbs. 9 oz. and is 27 1/2 in. long! He loves to hear his voice, so he is constantly "talking". This past week he figured out how to get up on his hands and knees, so I have a feeling he will be crawling before we know it!

Miss Cindy made Jacob a monkey blanket last week! It's so cute and he loves it!

Baby's 1st Christmas

Ok, so I am going to back track a little here.....Jacob celebrated his 1st Christmas this year and that is worth back-tracking in my opinion!!! : )

Our little guy has been very alert and observant so Christmas was fun even though he is only 5 1/2 months old. He helped daddy open presents on x-mas morning, but mostly he was more interested in trying to eat the wrapping paper! Jacob is teething, having cut his first tooth just days before Christmas, so everything and I mean EVERYTHING he can get his hands on has been going straight into his mouth!

This year it took about 2 hours to open all the presents that Santa brought! I haven't had a Christmas morning like that in years! : ) Thank You to the multiple "Santa's" who sent Jacob presents this year!

We had a relaxing day....mommy and daddy had a big breakfast and we all stayed in our PJ's the entire day!
Opening presents was hard work......  : )

Welcome 2012...

2012 brought with it a much needed visit from my Dad and step mom, Deb. We enjoyed a long weekend together and it was filled with good food, good conversation and plenty of laughs! I really enjoy watching my dad with Jacob! He is such a good Papa to my son and we are blessed to have him in our lives! It also tickles me to see how much joy my son brings to his Grandma Deb as well! They left this afternoon and I miss them already.....

Jacob also started to cut his 2nd tooth while they were here!

Filling the void...

So....this is my first post. I'm not all that sure how good I'll be at blogging but am eager to give it a whirl.

2011 was a crazy year for me! I got engaged and became a mother!

It's been interesting....I've entered a whole new phase in my life and it's been exciting, but has also had it's challenges. Mostly, I've realized how much I miss my family and friends back in New York. As I am learning how to be a mother to my son, I am missing those people who are oh so important to me.  Don't get me wrong; I've missed them before Jacob came along, but I miss them more than ever now that he is here. I want him to be close to his Grandparents, like I was to my Grandma Glo and Grandpa Len. I wish I had friends here in Pittsburgh, who had kids, so we could get together and have family game night and drink "mommy juice". I just want to best for my son......and for me.

I've tried my best to keep my family up to date on what is new with Jacob - by sending emails and pictures in the mail, but it can be hard to keep up when you are a new mom, who works full time and is trying to plan a wedding. So in an effort to stay better acquainted with those close to my heart, I've decided to start this blog. I'm hoping it will allow us to feel closer then we are and eliminate some of the sadness I feel from time to time.

I've often wished I could pick up the phone and call my mother, my step-mother, my brother or my friends, Jackie and Deidre and say...."hey, wanna come over for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and shoot the shit?" Since I am unable to do that, email and skype have had to suffice. I often don't have time to call anyone for a long conversation until it's too late at night or too early in the morning or "normal" people, so when I get the urge to share what is going on in my life and Jacob's, I can now blog about it.

Hopefully, this doesn't some like I'm whining or overly depressed. I just truly miss my family and friends right now. I am trying to fill that void in my life....and in my parents life.....so bare with me. I hope this blog turns into one that is funny and documents the joys and challenges of being a new mother and that we can all get to know each other better. and that i can get to know myself better too.

If you decide to continue following my blog, welcome and I hope you enjoy being a part of our lives!

Happy 2012!
